Road Map to Bosnia and Herzegovina – Expanding Opportunities for U.S. Students
Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo, Road Map to Bosnia and Herzegovina strengthens the capacity of higher education institutions (HEIs) in Bosnia and Herzegovina to attract U.S. students through academic and exchange programs.
The project brings together U.S. Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs), who are spending an academic year at universities across BiH, and a team of U.S.-based experts: Prof. Tiffany MacQuarrie of Pennsylvania State University and Dr. Ksenia Ivanenko of American Councils. Together, these experts are leading online and localized, in-person training sessions to equip BiH universities with the tools, knowledge, and strategies needed to host U.S. students.
Running from October 2025 to May 2026, the project focuses on building institutional capacity at BiH universities and developing a practical roadmap for welcoming and engaging American students. It also fosters connections with U.S. universities, provides BiH students with information and opportunities to study in the United States, and lays the groundwork for future exchange programs between U.S. and BiH institutions.
Applications for Higher Education Institutions in BiH to participate in the program are now open until October 30, 2025. To apply go to: https://ais.americancouncils.org/roadmapbh
