Media Education Exchange Talks (MEET): Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia

Through Media Education Exchange Talks (MEET) university students across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia, will be empowered with media literacy and critical thinking skills to combat disinformation.

Using American Councils’ field-tested curiculum, MEET will help participants develop localized, interactive exhibits—including explainer videos and gamified quiezzes—that they will present and showcase at universities around the region. Through the exhibitions and professional opportunities, MEET will create a lasting impact, empowering participants with practical skills, and positioning them as regional advocates in the ongoing fight against disinformation.

Media Education Exchange Talks program started initially as a pilot media literacy-themed exchange between high school students and teachers from Serbia and Kosovo - sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade (October 2020-May 2021). The regional edition of the program, MEET Western Balkans (November 2021-June 2022) was funded by the Balkan Trust for Democracy, a project of the German Marshall Fund of the United States, and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

MEET Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia is funded by the U.S. Embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia through the Democracy Commission Small Grants Program.

Stay tuned for application information, as the program will launch in fall/winter of 2024/2025.
